Article 24 of the DSU calls for additional consideration for least-developed countries. For example, members are asked to exercise restraint in bringing cases that ask for compensation from or seek retaliation against least-developed countries. A provision in Article 22 of the DSU on suspension of concessions and other obligations (retaliation) is of special relevance to developing countries, although it is not limited to them. The complainant may seek to cross-retaliate, that is, to retaliate in sectors not covered by the violated agreement, if it determines that it is not practical or effective to retaliate in the same sector in which the defending country has been found in violation.
